++Qualifying Tournaments

6 one-day Region qualifying tournaments and one two-day championship

Each qualifying tournament listed above is a one day tournament. If two days are listed, then two separate, one day tournaments will be held (except for the championship). Anglers must fish at least 4 of the 6 total region qualifying tournaments to be eligible to qualify for the region championship. Anglers are allowed to drop 2 tournaments, provided all 6 tournaments are fished. The 4 best tournament finishes will be counted.

Anglers will qualify for the championship through qualifying tournament total point standings. The qualifying tournaments are identified above by the “++” symbols. At each tournament, anglers will be awarded points based on each individual’s final tournament standings. 200 points awarded for 1st place, 199 points awarded for 2nd place, 198 points awarded for 3rd place, and so on.

The Region championship will be a “blind draw” format. The anglers who finish in the top 3 points standings will have the option of “boater” or “non-boater” status and right to first refusal. Anglers ranked 4 through 6 will be deemed “non-boaters”. If a top 6 ranked angler does not wish to fish the Region championship, the 7th ranked angler will become eligible to fish the championship. We will continue down the list until the field is filled. After the final field is set, the top 3 anglers will be classified as “boaters” and the remaining 3 as “non-boaters”. Front of boat time, fishing location, & trolling motor operation will be shared equally between the “boaters” and the “non-boaters”.

The angler winning the Region championship will be the “Region Angler of the year” and represent the Texas Panhandle region on the Texas B.A.S.S. Federation state team. The winning angler will also receive a Minnkota trolling motor,  and entry in the central Division tournament. In the central Division tournament, the Region angler will be competing against the other 11 anglers which comprise the Texas B.A.S.S. Federation state team. The Texas state team angler who beats the other 11 Texas anglers will advance to the B.A.S.S. Federation National Championship and will represent the state of Texas. If an angler wins the central division at the B.A.S.S. Federation National Championship, the angler qualifies to fish the 2008 Bassmaster Classic and represent the central division as B.A.S.S. Federation Central Division champion.
