New IGFA LMB M-Junior Division World Record!

Cody Pierce has officially annihilated the IGFA LMB M-Junior World Record by 7lbs. 11 oz.!

"Cody said she was too beautiful to take her life and she had just given him the thrill of his lifetime. 30 minutes after school that day Cody was back out on the water looking for an even larger one! I wouldn't be surprised if he breaks his own record, he is unbelievable when he gets a fishing rod in his hands."
- Danny Pierce

Cody made the catch in March while fishing at Murray Reservoir in San Diego. He was casting from the shore
when this huge fish struck his bait, and he landed it after five minutes of intense fighting while using only 10-lb
test line. After Cody weighed his bass at a nearby ranger station, he successfully released it back into the reservoir to fight another day. His angling accomplishment will be reported in the next issue of IGFA's International Junior Angler newsletter that is sent to members in over 50 countries and Cody will receive a colorful world record certificate. His name will also appear in the 2001 World Record Game Fishes book that is published by IGFA annually.

The IGFA Junior World Record Program, which is sponsored by JohnsonTM, a tackle brand of Pure FishingTM,
includes 60 species each of freshwater and saltwater fish. There are four record divisions and 480 record
possibilities. Records are maintained for males and females in a "smallfry" division through age 10 and in a
"junior" division for anglers 11 through 16. Junior anglers do not have to kill their fish in order to qualify for a world
record and catch and release is strongly encouraged. There is no charge to submit a record and membership in
IGFA is not required. However, a junior membership in the IGFA is available for $15 per year. Members receive the
quarterly International Junior Angler newsletter, IGFA Rule Book, periodic world record updates, Junior Angler
Club hat, patch, decal, and junior membership card.

IGFA is a 61-year-old nonprofit membership supported organization whose functions include conservation, record
keeping, and gathering other data important to recreational fishing. It has members and representatives in over
120 countries and territories. IGFA welcomes visitors to its 60,000 square foot Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum in
Dania Beach, Florida.
